Dear Pie Fanatics,
Men, even though you will never actually experience one yourself, any more than you will experience childbirth, it's possible that an epidural may someday save your life. Before I go on to clarify that, let me explain to the rest of you - the rest being those of you who have never been present at the birth of a baby - what an epidural is. When a mommy and daddy love each other very much . . . Okay, that may be starting a little too early. When the contractions are five minutes apart you're wife grabs your arm in a viselike grip and hisses, "Epidural." When the nurse peeks in the door, she yells "Epidural!" The nurse, being no fool, disappears.
A drill that only a focused mind could remember and perfectly execute. Powerful jabs, fine-tuned dodges and fancy footwork. Not a routine you would expect to see in an American Sign Language classroom.
SAFE HOUSE: There's a lot of positives in this movie for fans of action spy thrillers.
Building relationships requires all concerned to be trustworthy and forthright. This need for everyone to be totally honest runs throughout the entire team on both sides of the relationship and you and your clients are on the same team.
While traveling in Central America, I had the opportunity to worship at an international, interdenominational, English-speaking church. The congregation contained Africans, Italians, Spaniards, Latinos, Americans, and Asians. We sang old Irish hymns and modern, Australian worship choruses.
We are not normally fans of full-size pickups; however, it's hard not to appreciate the smooth quiet ride, plush comfortable interiors and brute power of many luxurious new truck models. The trade-off for us is poor fuel economy, massive size and they don't handle as well as we'd like, especially on the curvy mountain roads in our area.
This past weekend it couldn't have been scripted any better. Phil Mickelson versus Tiger Woods at Pebble Beach. They were tied at the start both two shots from the lead. At the end Mickelson shot 64 and Tiger shot 75. Mickelson was the winner.
Dear Marcie,
It's another beautiful week in the Rio Grande Valley...
I had just settled down to watch the 24-hour, midnight to midnight, "MonsterQuest" marathon on the History Channel – this hour, an all-female expedition searches for Bigfoot – when my daughter walked in the living room.
Dear Food Critics,
CHRONICLE: I remember a monologue from David Carradine's title character in KILL BILL VOL. 2 (2004) when he pointed out that Superman was one of the few superheroes who was born that way.
Several years ago, Susan Powter came out with a program for well-being called Stop the Insanity. Sometimes I think I'd like to use that title for a book about education in 2012. I could go on for hours explaining why, but I'll start with a few things that come up nearly every day:
On May 6, 1954, Roger Bannister ran a mile in under four minutes. The previous fastest time was four minutes and three seconds. Barrister became the first person to ever run a mile in under four minutes, a feat that has previously eluded the best runners in the world.
