A New Kind of Ford Pickup
Posted: February 17, 2012 - 3:00 am

We are not normally fans of full-size pickups; however, it's hard not to appreciate the smooth quiet ride, plush comfortable interiors and brute power of many luxurious new truck models. The trade-off for us is poor fuel economy, massive size and they don't handle as well as we'd like, especially on the curvy mountain roads in our area.

Hyundai's Top Value Luxury Sedan is Genesis
Posted: February 10, 2012 - 12:23 am

Most people looking for an upscale premium sedan will look for cars with a name on the hood like Mercedes-Benz, Audi, BMW, Lexus, Jaguar, Cadillac or Infiniti. Status is important to many people, and those brands have earned their appeal after years of building some of the best luxury cars in the world.

Chevy's Head-Turning Camaro Convertible
Updated: February 02, 2012 - 11:11 pm

Getting the mail at the neighborhood box cluster often elicits comments about the car we are driving. We have a few neighbors who know we write about cars, but there are others that probably think we are car dealers (or drug dealers that can afford to buy new cars each week).

The First Mercedes C-Class Coupe
Posted: January 27, 2012 - 12:24 am

KENNEBUNKPORT, Maine -- My drive route from Kennebunkport to the infamous Mount Washington takes my driving partner and me through the scenic New England countryside populated with quaint towns and villages, sampling roads originally cut through ancient forests before cars were invented.

Buick Back in the Performance Business With Regal GS
Updated: January 20, 2012 - 3:03 pm

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. -- I am a Buick owner, and have been since 1989 when my husband and I walked into the San Francisco auto show and the first car we saw on the rotating pedestal was a Buick Reatta. With its unique clean styling, the sporty two-passenger coupe, grabbed my attention and I went down to the Buick store the following week and bought the one they had on their pedestal.

Maxima
Updated: January 18, 2012 - 2:02 pm

Way back in the olden days in the late 1980s when I was a fledgling auto writer with a full head of hair, I remember doing my first test drive in a Nissan Maxima.

Ford has come up with an absolutely fantastic solution for those who enjoy the size and versatility of a utility vehicle, but demand the fuel economy of a smaller car.

Mazda5: the Miniest Minivan
Posted: January 06, 2012 - 12:00 am

When it comes to vehicle usefulness, it's impossible to find a vehicle with the capacity, comfort and capabilities of a minivan. Unfortunately, minivans have been painted with the "soccer mom" stigma that has turned many trendy families away in favor of sport utes or more recently crossovers.

A7 - Audi's Elegant 4-Door Coupe
Updated: December 12, 2011 - 11:47 am

Initially, we wondered about the wisdom of Audi building the A7.   The company already had a beautiful selection of impressive sedans: A4, A6, and A8.  However, the A7 was of that new breed of sedans first created when Mercedes-Benz introduced the world’s first four-door coupe under the CLS badge.  The good looks and sporty styling of the CLS have since been mimicked by Porsche, Jaguar XJ, Aston Martin and several others.   Audi was a little late to the show, but they made a grand and elegant entry.

Lexus CT 200h -- the Sporty Side of Hybrids
Updated: December 01, 2011 - 6:26 pm

From first glance, the Lexus CT 200h gets high marks for styling. The five-door hatchback wears a stylish European look that sets it apart from the crowd of other smaller hatchbacks and sedans.  The distinctive style comes from the drawing pencils of the Lexus L-finesse design school.  It’s most noticeable in the sculpted front grille and fascia area and the complex “C” pillar treatment that is unlike any other hatchback.

New and even better, Mercedes-Benz M-Class
Posted: November 25, 2011 - 2:09 pm

It seems like just last year that I was attending the introduction of the original Mercedes-Benz M-Class in Alabama. We drove through the beautiful countryside, lunched at the NASA Space Camp and wallowed through the slickest mucky mud I've ever seen.
