It’s another beautiful week in the Rio Grande Valley…

Had a wonderful Easter weekend that included sweet celebrations of faith, family and friends.  Attended an early Easter dinner at Casa Curran, home of Ashley & Eric Curran of Mission. Festivities included a late-night Easter egg hunt for adults and lots of yummy food and drink.  Loved seeing Danielle Reed, David Rodriguez, Kurt Schuster, Bonnie Cabrera, Clara Chapa, Jim Bob Sides, Jason Broughton, Ryan Peterson and Jared Marks.

Other Easter gatherings included a lovely post-church lunch at the home of Karen & David Peterson. Enjoyed a delicious meal and great company, including Laura & John Harrison, Lauren Harrison, and Mary Kay & Mike Broughton.

Kudos to Rio Grande Valley Aggies for putting on a fantastic Aggie Muster event recently at Cimarron Country Club in Mission.  Former A&M professors Drs. Joe Townsend and Chris Townsend were honored guests, with Joe serving as Muster speaker. He gave a great talk that was both reverent and nostalgic, as well as inspirational and hilarious.  Seen at Aggie Muster were Sister & Carlos Guerra, Laura Ramirez, Carlitos Guerra, Victor Guerra, Tina Guerra, Laura Caballero, Erica de le Garza-Lopez, DeAnn Cohrs, Tania & Brian Reed, Marian, Shawn & Byron Swanberg, MaryEllen & Tom Stocker, Lauren Harrison, Lauren Holland, Alison Jones, RuthAnn & Whiteney Jones, TJ Perez, Nina Rodriguez, Rene Rodriguez, Jason Powell, Omar Cavazos, Marabeth & Taylor Schuster, Fernando Perez, Omar De Leon, and Theresa Allen, just to name a few!!

This Friday is the day for the Relay For Life of McAllen McAllen High School Stadium!  As you’ve heard from me before, Relay is an incredible American Cancer Society event where members of the community come together to CELEBRATE cancer survivors, REMEMBER loved ones lost, and FIGHT BACK to find a cure.  Relayers will stay up all night long and walk/run throughout the night to remind us that cancer never sleeps.  Committee members including Evanna Cramer, Laura Gutierrez, Terry Pruneda, Dale Cramer, Annabel Tellez, Nora Melendez, Brittany Melendez, and Mary Lou Trevino are encouraging the community to attend for opening ceremonies at 7:00pm and stay as long as you would like.  For more information, call the American Cancer Society office at 682-8329.  Hope to see you there!
