McALLEN – About 25 friends and family members honored Ernest Madsen recently on the eve of his 100th birthday celebration.

Israel Longoria and Yadira Y. Longoria of Palmview honored their daughter, Leslie R. Longoria, on her fifteenth birthday on Oct. 15, 2011. She was escorted by Erick Rios of Palmview. A dance/reception was held at Veteran's Pavilion.

Gabriela and Jaime Jaimes were married on Oct. 1, 2011, in Mission. The bride’s parents are Felipa Rodriguez and Francisco Smith of Reynosa, Mexico. The groom’s parents are Elvia Lopez and Jaime Jaimes of Reynosa. The ceremony was performed by Pastor Rios. A reception was held at Mandingo’s. The groom graduated from Edinburg High School and is self employed.

Chelsey Risica & Richard Cleghorn were joined in holy matrimony at a double ring ceremony officiated by Pastor Dave Diercksen  at the First Presbyterian Church in Mission, Texas on Saturday, October 08, 2011. Kim & Pat Risica gave his daughter's hand in marriage along with Shelly Kay Plath Risica. Richard Cleghorn son of Dan & Marsha Nelson, Ph.D. and the late Donald Dwight Cleghorn, Jr. and late stepfather Don Michael Gamel, M.D.

Marco A. Ortiz and Sandra R. Salgado of Mission honored their daughter, Vanessa, on her fifteenth birthday on July 2, 2011. The church celebration was held at San Martin de Porres in Alton. She was escorted by Felix Castana of Palmview. A dance/reception was held at Fiesta Ballroom. Vanessa attends Benito Juarez Lincoln High School.

Miss Jannie Ochoa was married to Antonio Betancourt on June 4 at San Martin de Porres Church. The bride's parents are Victoria and Felipe Ochoa of San Juan. The groom's parents are Maria and Eduardo Betancourt of Alton. The ceremony was performed by Father Julian. A reception was held at Fiesta Ballroom. The bride is a graduate of PSJA Memorial High School. The groom is a graduate of Mission High School.

Miss Diana Guerra was married to Maximo Campuzano on August 12 at 7 p.m. at Cimarron Country Club in Mission. The bride's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Juan Guerra of Roma. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Maximo Campuzano of Elgin, Texas. The ceremony was performed by Esequiel Moralez. A reception followed at Cimmarron Country Club. The bride is employed by Veteran's Memorial High School as an Assistant Band Director. The groom is employed by Express Employment Professionals as a Staffing Consultant.

David and Juanita Contreras of McAllen celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on June 28, 2011.

The beach at South Padre Island was the setting for the wedding of our long-time neighbor's granddaughter on Saturday, June 25.

Miss Magda K. Sandoval was married to Eliseo Mendo on April 30 at His Hands Ministry. The bride's parents are Jose and Magdalena Sandoval of Reynosa. The groom is the son of Maria N. Hernandez of Tampico. The bride is a graduate of South Houston High School and is employed by Argus Security. The groom graduated from Universidad de Tampico and is self employed.

Jose and Lydia Villanueva of Weslaco honored their daughter, Jolynn Villanueva, on her fifteenth birthday on May 7. The celebration was held at Veterans in Weslaco. She was escorted by Sean Aldrete of Weslaco. Jolynn attends Weslaco East High School.

Cleotilde Lopez was born April 25, 1911 at 1003 E. Stubbs St. Edinburg. (She has lived her whole life at that address). "Tillie" turned 100 years old on April 25, 2011. She survives seven brothers and sisters who are; Albert Lopez, Julio Lopez, Pedro Lopez, Ramon Lopez, Clara Lopez, Lia Lopez, and John Lopez.

Miss Erica Zamora was married to Pete Ybarra on March 19, 2011, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. The bride's parents are Oscar and Sandra Zamora of Mission. The groom's parents are Yolanda and Agapito Ybarra of Mission. The ceremony was performed by Father Roy. A reception was held at Villa de Cortez. The bride is attending UTPA and is employed by McAllen ISD as a special education aide. The groom graduated from Kaplan College and is employed by United Blood Services as a donor care specialist.

Francisco Rojas & Rosa Rojas of La Joya honored their daughter, Iliana Rojas, on her fifteenth birthday on March 13. The church celebration was held at Our Lady Queen of Guadalupe in Sullivan City. A reception was held at The Pavilion. She attends La Joya High School.

Ricardo and Yaeli Soria of Edinburg honored their daughter, Priscila Soria, on her fifteenth birthday on Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011. The church celebration was held at Alianza Pentecostes La Nueva Esperanza in Edinburg. A reception was held at Heavenly Splendor Church. Priscila attends Economedes High School.

Reynaldo and Carolina Granados of Mission honored their daughter, Priscilla Granados, on her fifteenth birthday on December 26, 2010.

Guillermo & Maria A. Cienfuegos of Hidalgo announce the engagement of their daughter, Marisol Cienfuegos, to Hector D. Olivares. The groom’s parents are Julio L. & Idalia G. Olivares of McAllen. The wedding date has been set for Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church in Hidalgo. The bride graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American and is employed by the Social Security Administration as a claims representative. The groom also graduated from the University of Texas-Pan American and is employed by Hidalgo County as a probation officer.

Mr. and Mrs. Rodrigo & Josefina Duran recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. A Mass was celebrated at San Martin de Porres in Alton. A reception was held at Reyna’s Crown in Palmview. Mr. Rodrigo Duran married the former Josefina Castillo on Aug. 30, 1960 in Mendez, Tamps. The couple wre honored by their children. They have 13 children, 33 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Maria del Carmen and Geronimo Garcia of Mission announce the engagement of their daughter, Heimy Garcia, to Benito Espinoza. The groom’s parents are Benito and Lorena Espinoza of Mission. The wedding date has been set for Jan. 8. The bride is a graduate of Edinburg North High School. The groom graduated from Edinburg North High School and is employed by Conway Dentalk as a dental assistant.

Juan Garcia and Lluvia Mendez of Edinburg honored their daughter, Alejandra Garcia, on her fifteenth birthday on October 30, 2010. A garden party celebration was held to mark the occasion. Alejandra attends Edinburg North High School.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cordova and Mr. Pedro Huizar of Mission and Edinburg honored their daughter, Amber Renee Huizar, on her fifteenth birthday on Sept. 11, 2010. The church celebration was held at Templo Bethel in Edinburg. She was escorted by John Matthew Cordova of Mission. A dance/reception was held at the Activity Center. She attends Economedes High School in Edinburg.

Mr. and Mrs. Armando Perez of Alton honored their daughter, Amanda, on her fifteenth birthday on July 24, 2010. A dance/reception was held at Fiesta Ballroom. She was escorted by her brother, Armando Perez III. She attends Veterans Memorial High School in Mission.
