McALLEN – Operating since March 2011 and celebrating their Grand Opening on April 16, Smashburger has stepped up to help the Food Bank of the RGV feed the hungry in the Rio Grande Valley. Smashburger is located at 1020 W. Nolana Loop (corner of Nolana and North 10th), McAllen
“Even before they opened for business, Smashburger management was doing everything they could to help the Food Bank and make an impact in their new home in McAllen,” Terri Drefke, FBRGV Executive Director said. “We are very thankful to have such a fabulous restaurant that cares about its community open and operate in McAllen.”
During their first fundraiser, Smashburger opened its doors on March 23rd with a VIP dinner with all proceeds going to the FBRGV. That night, over 200 customers were able to sample the Smashburger menu before they were officially open for business. Also, during the Smashburger Grand Opening on April 16, a food drive contest was organized with food going directly to the Food Bank RGV.
During their first month of operation, Smashburger donated 300 pounds of angus beef to the FBRGV for distribution.
