Congratulations to Enriqueta Ramirez of McAllen, whose son Art introduced her to Queen Elizabeth II of England last December when they were attending the annual Christmas dance for employees and their guests at Buckingham Palace. Former McAllenite Art Ramirez works with the Royal Collection Enterprise, a charity that looks after Windsor Castle and other royal homes . . .

Though my husband and I have visited our son and daughter-in-law in London, we have yet to meet the queen. Maybe she didn’t realize when we were coming? After all, I’ve seen The Queen, own courtly clothing, and could certainly back out of a reception room!

Saw Tina & Robert Martin enjoying friendly banter at the country club, from the likes of Mike Frost, Jack Radde, Bob Hawkins, Greg Morrow, and helpful sweetie Ron Kilby . . .

Sandra, Kathy, Marilyn, Debbie, Gretchen Garrett, L. D. Clopton, and I had fun being onlookers instead of teetering on stools. Next week Ron and L.D. will hopefully be representing McAllen by playing championship golf in the annual “Life Begins at 40” tournament in Harlingen . . .

Saw Conductor Peter Dubrowski looking very busy, dashing, and professorial (conductor-ish?) on concert day last week . . .

Talked to Barbara Guerra, and found that her spouse, retired Judge Arturo Guerra, Jr. and pretty much the whole family were present recently for a happy occasion, the unveiling of his portrait at the courthouse . . .

Just a few of the lovely ladies spotted at the combined McAllen Junior League meeting last week were new provisionals Cassandra Moreno, Dr. Sonia Silva, and Rubi Yzaguirre; members Gretchen Kriedler, Cindee Godinez, Kimberly Santos, new member Julie Baer, and President Eva Tavarez . . .

Saw busy Betty Bloomfield heading off to review a biography of John Quincy Adams for the Daughters of the American Revolution, and she will be reviewing one for our book club next week about “three cups of tea” — more info later . . .

Community congrats are due the International Museum of Art and Science here in McAllen, which was recently accredited as one of 40 accredited museums in Texas, and 775 out of 17,500 nationwide. Thanks go to their Marketing Officer Desiree Longoria for this info . . .

Anniversary congrats to Geen & Tom Wilkins, who either celebrated last Sunday, or are planning their destination celebration!

Happy birthday for last Monday, the 23rd, to Lynn Barlow, and for yesterday to Dee Dee Hockema . . .

Today’s birthday celebrants include Dori Contreras Garza, Jack Wilson, and Dick Ruppert; while some celebrating tomorrow include Vanessa Kooiman, Diana Newton, Jason Palacios, and Barbara Smith . . .

Had a phone visit with friendly June Huffman, who will have more news in March, so keep those phone calls coming folks!

Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, at least one week ahead!
