Edinburg North High School 2011 graduate Dawn Iglesias (middle) is one of three recipient of this year's Ciro L. Treviņo Memorial Scholarship.

Here she poses with members of the music scholarship committee Paul Villarreal (left) and the elder Ciro Trevino.

Iglesias received a certificate and $1,000 to help defray her education expenses at Texas State University, where she is majoring in Music Education. Iglesias is the daughter of Frank Iglesias and Tami Crist of Edinburg.

The other scholarship recipients are Myrna Peralez and Miguel Alcocer. The scholarship was set up three years ago in honor of the longtime Edinburg school district band director and fine arts director, who passed away recently. The scholarship committee just wrapped up a very successful fund raising event. Proceeds from all fundraisers go to a fund set up to reward one to three Edinburg high music seniors for academic excellence and participation in music.
