Texas Trails RV Park held their monthly ladies luncheon complete with their version of a Christmas tree decorated in socks. The socks will be given to the Cornerstone Ministries out of Donna to take to their clinic held in Mexico. “These will be for the diabetics who come in and have their feet treated and rarely have clean socks, if any socks at all, to put on. We’ll give them a pair to put on and one to take home,” Judi Thompson said. So far, 251 pairs of socks have been donated. Also collected were quilts, head hats, turbans and teddy bears — all shapes and sizes — to be donated to the Vannie E Cook Jr. Children’s Cancer and Hematology Clinic, the Pharr Police Department and the Cornerstone Ministries. Other receivers of quilts and bears are the United Way, Driscoll Children’s Clinic, Edinburg Children Hospital and the Rainbow Room. The Texas Trails Angels began making the quilts and turbans with only two people and have grown to 35 volunteers.
