Company teams are becoming weekend athletes and practicing their volleyball skills, tug of war, three-legged sack race, etc. in preparation for the McAllen Hispanic Chambers Summer Corporate Olympics that is scheduled for Friday, June 26, at the Fireman’s Park located on 1st Street and Bus. 83.
The annual event brings teams together to compete in such team games as volleyball tournament, egg relay, three-legged sack race and new this year, human wheel barrel race. Individual events are shot-put throw, jousting contest, horseshoe toss and a new event this year is the spinning bat event. The grand finale is the “Tug of War” Test of Strength that includes three men and two women who will avoid getting wet in the pool. The entry fee is $500 and includes a company t-shirt for 30 people, food and beverages. Competition runs from 6 to 9 p.m. Trophies for first, second and third place will be given as well as gold, silver and bronze medals for individuals. Registration deadline is June 10.
