Families are invited to visit Estero Llano Grande State Park on Thursday, April 9, for the second monthly “Full Moon” Party. The event will go on from 8 to 10 p.m.

The first event, on March 11, was a great success and those attending were so surprised at the many night sounds that could be heard in the park. The evening, brightened by the full moon, will be used for everyone to get out and enjoy the sights and sounds of the night with a knowledgeable guide. If the park’s friends cooperate, everyone should expect to hear the park’s Common Pauraques (night birds), the Whistling Ducks, frogs, and insects.

Come howl at the moon and see if the park’s coyotes will answer your call. The event will go on regardless of weather and, if it rains, will be held on the park’s huge covered deck.

There is no extra charge for this program; just the regular admission fees apply. Please call us at 956-565-3919 to let the park know you and your family are coming so they can have adequate staff on hand for the evening. An additional walk will be held on May 9.

Estero Llano Grande is one of Texas’s unique World Birding Center parks. It is at 3301 South International Boulevard (FM1015) on the southeast edge of Weslaco.
