What fun! At last week’s meeting, just a few of the members of the McAllen Pan American Round Table who were wearing outfits and/or accessories from Pan American countries were Kay Moffitt, Margarita Salinas, B. B. Crane, Carmen Guerra, Berry Fritz, Aida Torres, Sandra Imhoof, Yolanda Barrera, Deanna Longoria Ramirez, Eunice Inglés, and Marlou Levine. (Apologies to those left out — will try the rest next week.)

Congratulations to Patty Fallek, Bailey Gurwitz, and Janet Wallace, who were honored last Friday night at the Junior League of McAllen’s Dias Festivos gala with the organization’s first annual Spirit of Voluntarism awards. Imagine — the three of them total over 128 years of volunteering in McAllen!

Saw Dr. Vincent Vann, who is now located at on North McColl, RGV Retina Specialists, at 630-2424. Not waiting as long at his new location was quite nice!

Saw many folks at the McAllen Country Club’s annual members’ Christmas party, such as Rosa Valencia, Sylvia & Rene Alanis, Julio Martinez, Carolyn & Dr. Ken Landrum, Gay & Andy Hill, Tommy Sellers, Velma DeLeon, Margie & Bob McCreery, Joyce & James Deuser, Joaquin Muñoz, Dr. Adrian Hernandez, Wileen & Neal King, and Debbie & Greg Morrow, back in town from Ruidoso . . .

Some others seen out enjoying the festive atmosphere were Ruth & Roger Garza, Pat & Mike Blum, Frances Metcalf, Nancy & Randy Helmcamp, Connie & Dale Fielder, Dora & Joe Brown, Becky & Rick Guerra, Marge & Jamie Whittemore, Rudy Gomez, Craig Blackwell, Jane & Morgan Talbot, Marianne & David Seal, Tom Leach, Molly & Bob Tway, and Yolanda & Jim Ketter . . .

Heard from the golfers’ circuit that both Bob Tway and Phil Bleakney recently had a hole-in-one . . .

A big thank you goes out to Sally Garza, who is just loaded with information, and to Dos Goldsmith and Christine Tucker, in the golf pro shop, for their help . . .

Also heard from McHi ’95 grad Raul Castillo, that he has been here in town promoting the movie Amexicano, in which he stars, along with Carmine Famiglietti and Grammy-nominated singer Jennifer Peña. The film runs through tomorrow at Carmike 20 in Edinburg . . .

Another McAllen hometowner is Veronica Loren, starring in August Evening, showing at Movies 17. Both movies touch on family/border themes . . .

Hope you enjoyed the Valley Symphony Orchestra and Chorale’s annual holiday concert, A Touch of Frost, which was conducted by Maestro Peter Dubrowski and chorale director Christopher Munn. Cute title — sponsored by Frost Bank . . .

Saw what Becky Guerra, owner of Nuevo Santander Gallery along with spouse Che, and Mayra Brown, owner of Art House, would like to see happen to McAllen’s first Friday ArtWalks. Crowds are good, but upscale is even better. (my opinion, not necessarily that of the Town Crier!)

Happy birthday for yesterday to Lee Baucum. Birthday cheer for today is wished to Jean Milliken, Sally Hamlin, and Chris Westphal . . .

For tomorrow, December 11th birthday greetings go out to Famelisa Landez, Helen Dickerson, Karen Boggus, and Julianne Rankin . . .

Note to all readers: the following phone number is not the newspaper’s phone number; it is a number just for this column. Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, at least one week ahead!
