More than 100 cyclists and runners participated in the Duathlon for Education held July 25 at Dodge Arena, raising more than $2,000 for scholarships for South Texas College students.

The event, which was held in conjunction with STCís Appetite for Education Cook-Off, was sponsored by Team McAllen Cycling, Security First Credit Union and Shell Oil.

ďAs cyclists and runners, our passion is fitness and we believe part of a personís total fitness means shaping your mind, which a higher education can help you accomplish,Ē said Laura Reyna, president of Team McAllen Cycling.
