Is the financial crisis getting you down? South Texas College’s Pecan Campus Library is hoping to cheer you by giving you the opportunity to play with money…Monopoly money, that is. The library is hosting a Monopoly Game Tournament March 7 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Those interested in pitting their real estate trading skills against other top players are invited to attend.

“We read the headlines everyday talking about the economic downturn, lower incomes, a broken mortgage system, higher taxes, and bankruptcy,” said STC Library Specialist Esther Garcia. “Playing Monopoly offers participants the thrill of getting rich with none of the risk, which makes it a perfect game to play during these tough times!”

The tournament consists of a 90-minute preliminary round of the Monopoly game that each participant is required to play, as well as a final round with the top six competitors to determine the winner. There is no cost to participate in the tournament, but early registration is encouraged.

Seating is limited, so sign up soon. For more information or to reserve your spot in STC’s Monopoly Tournament, contact Esther Garcia at 956-872-6485 or egarcia10@southtexascollege.edu.
