Rose Jimena, CNO for Edinburg Children’s Hospital and Edinburg Regional Medical Center attended the Kiwanis Club of Edinburg meeting in July. She presented information about the pediatric specialties available in the hospital, Kids Advantage membership program and special services offered to patient’s families such as the Ronald McDonald Family Room.

Edinburg Children’s Hospital opened its doors to serve the health care needs of Valley children in 2006. It is the first and only hospital in the Rio Grande Valley built just for kids. The full service hospital is fully staffed with the finest health care professionals and equipped with advanced diagnostic and medical technology.

“The families of the area are very fortunate that South Texas Health System took the initiative to provide the children of the Valley a first-class hospital locally. The Kiwanis Club of Edinburg’s mission is to help the children of the community and we want to support the efforts of Edinburg Children’s Hospital and all of the services they provide,” said Robert McGurk, president of the Kiwanis Club of Edinburg.

The Kiwanis Club organization meets every Tuesday of the month at the Echo Hotel and Conference Center Chevron Room at 12:00 noon. Anyone who is interested in supporting the fundraising efforts of the group is encouraged to stop in and visit with the members during the weekly meetings or contact Elva Jackson Garza at 383-4951.
