Thursday, June 3, Edinburg Chapter No. 473, Order of Eastern Star (OES) installed the 2010 core of officers. The evening opened with a stated meeting at the Masonic Lodge located at 121 S. 9th Ave. in Edinburg.
Fawn Foudray-Golich, incoming Worthy Matron and her husband Dale Golich, incoming Worthy Patron shared their motto: Peace, Glory and Abundance. Officers were dressed in formal wear from Fawn’s color choice of black and white. She decorated the Chapter room with ‘olive branches’ as a reminder of the Scripture - Genesis 8.11 - “And the dove came back to him in the evening, and lo, in her mouth was a freshly picked olive leaf; so Noah knew the waters had subsided from the earth.”
“Today, ancient olive groves are destroyed by violence, making a powerful symbol of peace into a casualty of war. We will keep the olive branches in our Chapter as a symbol for peace in the Middle East and everywhere war destroys lives, hopes and the freedoms we celebrate tonight;” said Fawn.
