The Friends of the Edinburg Public Library cordially invites the community to attend their Brown Bag Luncheon on Monday, Jan. 3, at 12 noon at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library.

The Friends of the Edinburg Library is a private, nonprofit organization committed to the Sekula Memorial Library through advocacy and volunteerism and giving that impact the lives of the people of Edinburg and the Rio Grande Valley.

This month Friends President, Ramon V. Vela Jr., will provide an insight to pigeon racing in South Texas. According to Ramon V. Vela Jr., pigeon racing is the sport of releasing specially trained pigeons which then return to their homes over a carefully measured distance. Mr. Vela has been racing pigeons since 1972. Today he is not only a member of the organization but also the President of the Pigeon Racers of the South Texas.

The public is welcome to attend all Brown Bag Luncheon. So donít forget to bring your sandwich and a friend Ö drinks and dessert will be provided. All interested in joining the Friends of the Edinburg Public Library are encouraged to attend the upcoming Brown Bag Luncheon.
