The Leadership Edinburg Class XX will be hosting itís annual Shooting for Safety skeet shooting competition to benefit the Child Safety and Beautification Project at Municipal Park this month.

The competition will take place on Jan. 24 at .2 Mile on East Trenton and Val Verde from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded for Best Individual Score, Best and Worst Team Score, Long Shot, and the Annie Oakley Competition.

Entry fees are $500 for a team of five, and $100 for individual shooters. The cost is $3,000 for those looking to sponsor the event, and $1000 to sponsor a station. Each includes a team upon sponsorship. Shooters must provide gun and ammunition.

There will be six stations, and one for long shot competition. The competition includes 25 targets person, 125 per team, and 2 mulligans available at $10 each.

The goal of the project is to provide funding for a safer environment at Municipal Park through increased lighting, added seating, and beautifying the entrance.

Leadership Edinburg is an organization seeking to empower young professionals through skills focused on politics, education, and quality of life. There are over 400 graduates who have completed the program.

Graduates of Leadership Edinburg typically continue to apply what they learned and demonstrate it by showing interest in community involvement including serving on committees and at times politics.
