The Depot Restoration Committee, headed by Elva Jackson Garza, was created to raise awareness as well as funds for the Depot, current home of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce (ECOC).

The committee will launch the first “Silver Campaign” to implement several renovation projects. The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) has agreed to partner with the Depot Restoration Committee in raising monies for building repair. Students from 27 ECISD campuses are encouraged to bring in their quarters, dimes and nickels to assist with the Silver Campaign fundraising efforts beginning on Jan. 18 and ending on Jan. 29.

“As members of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, we want to ensure that the historic facility that welcomes thousands of visitors to Edinburg each year continues to receive the care it deserves,” said Elva Jackson Garza. “The committee is focused on enhancing the interior and exterior of the Chamber Depot so that it will continue to serve the businesses, visitors and citizens of Edinburg.”

In addition to serving as the offices for the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce, the facility also houses the Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and the Convention and Visitors Bureau.
