As a way to bring holiday cheer, Girl Scout Troop No. 6 from Canterbury Elementary of Edinburg will be placing toy collection boxes at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance for their annual toy drive.

Under the guidance of Girl Scout Troop Leader Erika Ponce, the girls will be able to gather gifts for children who will be spending their holiday at the hospital.

Girl Scouts from Troop No. 006 will count on the community and DHR employees to help fill the boxes with new or unused toys so they can bring cheer to children at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance during the holiday season. Troop leader Erika Ponce says the girls want to help other children this year.

“Last year our girls went to a local nursing home, and this year they decided they wanted to help children cope with the holiday season,” Ponce said.

Other agencies assisting in the collection and donation of toys include Rio Grande Containers - Jeremy Martin, Ty Taylor - CPA and Physician Laboratory Services of Edinburg.

“Doctors Hospital at Renaissance is proud to band together with these young future leaders of our community and have them experience the joy of giving,” says Marissa Castañeda, DHR Chief Operations Officer.
