EDINBURG – Pull!  As the targets fly and the shotguns blast away, the Great Historical Shoot Out begins.  The Board of Trustees of the Museum of South Texas History will host its first clay-target shooting competition at the LPJ Ranch in San Manuel on Saturday, September 24.

This fun, morning event will get underway with an 8:00 a.m. check-in and includes the main shooting competition, shooting games, and a camp-style lunch.  Prizes will be awarded to the Top Gun, the single best shooter of the day; the Big Shots, the best team of the day; and to those who may need their eyes examined, the last place team.  Prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the shooting games.  A camp-style lunch will be served up by the Flores Family of Chorizo de San Manuel.

Organizing the event is the Shoot Out Committee, (left to right) Cullen Looney, Tammy Trippel, and chairman Patsy de los Santos.  Also on the committee are Jimmy Henderson, Shelley Richards, Carmen Yzaguirre, Randy McLelland, and Tony Godinez.

To register four-person teams, call Lynne Beeching at MOSTHistory, 383-6911.  The deadline for registration is August 22, 2011. The Gold Teams are $1,000 and Silver Teams are $800.  All proceeds will support the preservation projects and educational programs of the museum.  For more information visit www.mosthistory.org  or call the museum at 956-383-6911.
