Local seniors awarded scholarship for engineering talent
Science Academy of South Texas senior, Mark Torres, received a silver award from The Hispanic Heritage Foundation. As the silver medalist in the engineering category, sponsored by ExxonMobil, Torres was awarded a $2,000 scholarship to support his plans to pursue a degree in Neurology/Biomedical Engineering at Stanford University, Columbia University or Rice University.
Juan Diego Academy senior, Paulina Camara, received a bronze award from The Hispanic Heritage Foundation. As the bronze medalist in the engineering category, sponsored by ExxonMobil, Camara was awarded a $1,000 scholarship to support her plans to pursue a degree in Computer Engineering at University of Notre Dame, Stanford University or Rice University.
Torres and Camara were two of 21 award recipients at the Houston regional Hispanic Heritage Youth Awards ceremony on November 17.
