MERCEDES –South Texas Independent School District (STISD) is embarking on its third cycle of strategic planning, a process aimed at creating a community-inspired vision and direction for the district.
To launch this strategic design process, STISD is hosting two community-wide education summits. The summits will be held in two different locations to better serve those within the district community. Dates, times and locations are listed below.
Wednesday, January 18
Location: Gateway to the World Library, 510 S. Sugar Rd., Edinburg – located between South Texas Business, Education & Technology Academy (BETA) and South Texas Preparatory Academy (STPA)
Time: 6-8 p.m.
Thursday, January 19
Location: Rising Scholars Academy of South Texas Cafeteria, 151 S. Helen Moore Rd., San Benito
Time: 6-8 p.m.
During the summits, members of the community will have the opportunity to hear more about the strategic design process, as well as provide input on the future direction of the district. In an effort to develop a much needed and long-term strategic direction, STISD encourages all community members to attend at least one summit.
An online survey will also be available for community members to provide input for the plan. The survey will be posted on the district website at www.stisd.net, as well as on all campus websites, in late January.
Information, feedback and input gathered at the summits, focus groups and online will be used by a strategic design team comprised of students, parents, community members and staff who will create a community-inspired strategic direction for the next five or more years. This strategic direction will include a set of community beliefs, vision, goals, action steps and a learner profile. Additionally, it will allow STISD to measure student learning, and serve as a guide for the district as it makes future decisions regarding instruction, budgeting, staffing and facility planning.
As the district embarks on this process, pertinent documents and resources will be posted online at www.stisd.net for community members to access to stay informed. The district will provide updates throughout this process.
