McALLEN – Thanks to Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley and the McAllen South Rotary Club Cecilia Castillo and her three children will soon have a new home.
Currently Castillo rents a single room apartment and shares a bed with her children.
Castillo along with the McAllen South Rotary Club raised the walls to her new home that should take about a month to complete.
The house will be built with a $25,000 donation from the rotary along with donations from Texas Regional Bank, McCoys and the Imagine It program through the City of McAllen.
“We're here to help the family,” Habitat for Humanity director Wayne Lowry said. “Cecilia is a fantastic individual, we're just really proud and thrilled to be able to partner with her.”
Habitat for Humanity of the Rio Grande Valley built 11 homes in 2016 and helped 40 families with modifications to their home and in 2017 the organization is on target for 12 new homes and 80 home repair projects.
