PHARR – To kick-off National Autism Awareness Month, the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Special Education Department is hosting its 5th Annual Autism Awareness Walk tomorrow Saturday, April 1, at the PSJA ISD Stadium in Pharr. Registration for the free family event begins at 8:00 am, with the walk starting at 9:00 am.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a complex developmental disability with signs that typically appear during early childhood and affect a person's ability to communicate and interact with others.
PSJA ISD invites all members of the community, students and staff to walk together to raise awareness to an issue that is affecting millions of individuals and students nationwide.
T-shirts will be on sale for a donation of $5. Proceeds from exhibitors and t-shirt sales will go to the PSJA Education Foundation for scholarships to graduating seniors with autism.
