HIDALGO – Disney on Ice presents Follow Your Heart will bring Finding Dory to the ice for the first time in this live production.

The ice skating event will feature Inside Out, Frozen and other Disney stories at the State Farm Arena Wednesday April 19 through Sunday April 23. Tickets are now on sale at all arena box offices.

One of the performers to make the trip will be Sarah Wright. A native of Morristown, Tenn., she has been on the ice since she was two years old.

Two years ago Wright came to the Rio Grande Valley for the first time and remembers the sunny days after touring Northern states during the winter. Recently it has been the same so the warmer Texas weather is something the whole crew is anticipating.

“Everyone on our tour was so excited to see some warmer weather,” she said.

Wright began her professional career straight out of high school and has now been with Disney on Ice for six years. She was competitive skater for as long as she can remember so the transition from competitions to performance skating was easy.

“I could not have found a better job for myself,” she said. “To be able to skate for the audience it is a lot different than competing, when you're doing it in this aspect the audience is with you and you are with them and you are working better to have a great time.”

For now Wright will continue to skate with Disney on Ice as she recently signed a contract for the upcoming year. The one thing that becomes difficult is being away from family.

But with the east coast tour Wright has been close enough to home that she has been able to visit her family.

“It's difficult, especially around the holidays not to be around your family at home,” she said. “But the great thing about it is that we have an amazing tour family here that we all get together and support each other which makes it a lot easier.”

While performing Wright is a member of the ensemble. One of her favorite parts of the show is In Summer, a segment of Frozen. When Olaf dreams about summer Wright said you can almost feel the temperature change in the venue.

“You can feel it come to life and the audience reacts to it,” she said.
