EDINBURG – The 12th annual Texas Cook 'Em: High Steaks application is now ready and steaks are now higher for the July 1 competition.

The Edinburg Chamber of Commerce will payout $30,000 this year and will use the Steak Cookoff Association (SCA) and the International Barbecue Cookers Association (IBCA) as the sanctioning bodies for the event.

Once again H-E-B will provide all the steaks for the SCA portion of the competition. The entry fee for all four categories will be $250. Those wishing to only enter the steak portion may do so for $150.

Also as a reminder for those that participated last year the same lot number is reserved until the June 24 deadline.

Important Dates:

Friday May 26 – promotional entry deadline for the opportunity to win one of five $100 gift cards

Friday June 23 - $250 entry deadline (all four meats)

Friday June 30 – Cooks setup

Saturday July 1 – High Steaks
