ALAMO – PSJA Memorial Early College High School seniors, Melanie Enriquez and Samantha Camara, were recently named recipients of the prestigious Terry Scholarship. They will each receive scholarships of up to $20,000 to complete their postsecondary education for up to eight semesters.
The Terry Foundation is a Houston-based scholarship program founded to provide scholarships to outstanding Texas high school graduates and transfer scholars for attendance at public colleges and universities within the state. Students are selected based on three criteria: academic excellence, leadership potential and financial need.
In addition to graduating from high school, both seniors will be graduating with Associate Degrees from South Texas College (STC) this week.
Enriquez, who will use her $20,000 scholarship towards her education at the University of Texas at Austin, will receive an Associate Degree in Sociology. Camara a $24,700 scholarship recipient plans to attend Texas A&M University College Station, she will be receiving an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
