PHARR – PSJA North Early College High School alumna Brianna Karina Garza was recently accepted to Thurgood Marshall School of Law at the young age of 20. Garza graduated from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and minors in Legal Studies and English in December 2016.
“I am honored to be going to law school so young,” said Garza who will be attending law school this August 2017. “I hope this inspires students and shows them that anything is possible.”
Garza was part of the first cohorts of students graduating from PSJA ISD's Early College Program. She received an Associate Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from South Texas College one-week before her high school graduation in 2014. While in high school, she was actively involved in Drama, National Honor Society and was a Cheerleader.
“Earning my Associate Degree in high school helped me mentally, financially and academically,” said Garza of her time at PSJA. “I am especially grateful to Mrs. Vera Boda and PSJA for their continued support while I pursued my undergraduate degree at UTRGV.”
According to the future law student, she credits a large part of her success and determination to her family, teachers and counselors at PSJA ISD.
“I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support of my parents,” Garza said. “Thank you to my PSJA family for helping and guiding me along the way.”
