There are some weeks that you just CANNOT wait for the weekend to arrive. You call your crew (and ask them to bring backup) to join you for an hour of “meditation” and shake off El Fua, so that you can survive the next 24 hours, also known as Friday. In the middle of a small plaza located on the corner of McColl and Trenton, snuggled in between Dunkin Donuts and Las Quesadillas, Sip Lounge was our chosen sanctuary to debrief, hydrate and regain strength.

Depending on the time of day, finding a parking spot can be a bit of a challenge. The small plaza, filled with good eats, has quickly become a popular location. But while the neighbors close their doors early in the evening, Sip Lounge welcomes all who are looking to escape tumultuous work or simply in search of a night cap.

When you walk into Sip Lounge you first notice two things. One, lighting; there are dark little corners with couches where you can relax and feel like you are in one of those eclectic bars always shown on a “Sex and the City” episode. Two, the bar. As you open the doors to Sip Lounge, your eyes are immediately pulled towards the lighted bar at the end of a long, rectangular room. Like a beacon of light, it illuminated our hearts as we saw their various adult beverages and house-infused liquors like jalapeño-pineapple tequila and strawberry-mango rum.

Gaby: I was done with the day. I decided to take a Lyft to Sip Lounge and forget about parking worries.

Trisha: I arrived and the spaces parted like the Red Sea to allow me a “front row Joe” parking. Thank you!

Gaby: We immediately requested a Sip-a-Rita, for moi, and one of Trisha’s beloved Carretas.

Trisha: Unfortunately, my first Carreta was not quite to my liking, but fear not! When the owner of a place goes up to you and says, “We’ll make you another one. I want you to LOVE your Carreta,” that means something. Total game changer!

Gaby: I gulped my Sip-a-Rita and I must of been in such a disarray that I cannot believe I forgot that May 25 (the day of our visit) was National Wine Day. The horror!

Trisha: Two glasses of red wine straight away, please.

The music was bumping and we got our unsolicited fill of Bieber and ‘90s boy bands. The result was a much awaited preview version of the dance off between Gaby and one of our other boy band-loving crew members. The performance did not disappoint and the overall fun and excitement helped to work up our appetites. Surprise!

Much to our delight, and thanks to one of our crew who apparently frequents Sip Lounge, we discovered that you can order pizza by the slice while sipping down spirits. Our hand delivered slices were just what we needed to curb our hunger.

Trisha: Now THAT’S my kind of table side service.

Gaby: Hmm, is it really, though? (wink, wink)

Forget about Happy Hour, Sip Lounge hosts “Social Hour” Tuesday-Saturday from 4:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Enjoy $5 Sip-a-Ritas, Old Fashions and Cucumber Martinis; $4 Wells; $3 Infused shots and domestic draft. Check out their Facebook to keep up with various specials, promos and activities like our experience this past week, flying through a virtual reality Agave plantation.

Gaby: I’ve never had that experience at a bar before!

Trisha: Man, and you’ve certainly had your share, my dear.
