McALLEN - After two and a half years at the helm of the International Museum of Art and Science Julie Johnson has submitted her resignation.

"The trustees and staff at IMAS wish her the best in her future endeavors," IMAS board president Laura Warren said in a statement.

In the statement Warren also said existing staff will insure that operations at the museum remain ongoing and at the level of the of professionalism the community has come to expect from IMAS.

The board of trustees are currently conducting a local search to make sure qualified leadership is appointed immediately.

"We remain grateful to our community for its continued support and are excited about moving forward in our 50th year of service to our community," the statement concluded.
