MISSION – More than 100 volunteers consisting of students and parents filled the Bryan Elementary cafeteria to fill 2,000 backpacks with school supplies.

The enlistment of volunteers comes in support for the Fourth Annual Back to School Bash at Veterans Memorial High School Thursday Aug. 3. 

The Back to School Bash was created to help Mission CISD families with any last minute school supplies.

This year the event will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and will include:

Free vision screenings (Mission Lions Club)

Free student haircuts (Mission CISD cosmetology students)

Late online registration

General school information for each campus

Immunization ($5 per vaccine for students)

Sports physicals ($20, Ashley Pediatric Mobile Clinic – 3 p.m.)

High school fine arts student performances

Information from community and corporate sponsors.

Students planning to take a physical must fill out the first page of the form and signed by parents before physical can be conducted. The form can be downloaded at mcisd.net. Students with a condition that may interfere with medical clearance should bring a letter from cardiologist or specialist involved with student's medical history.
