It’s another beautiful week in the Rio Grande Valley!

Andrea Sierra Salazar was diagnosed with stage 2 nodular schleoriss Hodgkin lymphoma in 2016. This year, the seventeen-year-old will be the American Cancer Society’s Cattle Baron Ball’s, “Boots & Blossoms,” Honoree on September 9th at the Boggus Ford Events Center.  Clara Chapa, the new Community Devlopment Manager has been working diligently with her committee and Chairs to make this year’s event fun and successful.  Husband and wife super duos, Laura & Dr. Alberto Pena and Jessica & Drew Lentzare the 2017 Chairmen.  Country singer, Craig Morgan will headline the event with songs like, “That’s What I love About Sunday,” “Almost Home,” and “International Harvester.”  His songs have that old school feel to them about hard work, family and just living life.  Dinner will consist of beef tendorlein, pork belly, a pasta bar, cesar salad bar, truffle mac-n-cheese station, and many other delicious foods.  Like Red wine, white whine, or a good cabernet? Then make sure you participate in the wine pull. Who knows what you will get, but the chances of you leaving with an expensive bottle of wine, is very high.  Get your table or tickets ASAP before they sell out.  Contact the American Cancer Society office at (956)682-8329 to join in the fun for a great cause.

Last Thursday the Noon Rotary Club of Mission met at Molcas in Mission. Members that attended were Aida Lerma; Lupita Ramiez; Laura Vela; Lenny Garza; Rudy Pena; Clay Everhart; Ed Welliver; Hiriam Burguette; Ferny Medina; and guest Mike Ayala.  The topic was the Mission National Night Out where local law enforcement and the community renew their relationship, and at the same time school supplies are disbursed to local kids.  Partners such as City of Mission, City of Palmhurst; Mission Boys & Girls Club; Mission PD and Fire Departments; La Joya ISD PD and Police; Food Bank of RGV; Rodeo Dental; and many others hand out free supplies as well.
