SAN JUAN - Ricardo Reybal, a Dual Language Enrichment Program Math Teacher at PSJA Early College High School was recently invited to Uruguay as a guest speaker at the 5th Scientific Camp for Teaching Students.
Since 2012, the Scientific Camp for Teaching Students has been held in order to promote STEM education, specifically focusing on the area of Science. The Ministry of Education and Culture from Uruguay invited Reybal to this conference to speak among student teachers who are expected to graduate this December.
While in Uruguay, Reybal was also invited to a Mathematics Inspection at the Museum of Natural History in Montevideo to present strategies used in Math classes in Texas. He was also given the opportunity to visit and observe Math classes at some of the Fulbright Commission Uruguayan schools.
All expenses for this trip were paid for by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the United States Embassy in Uruguay.
"I want to thank the Ministry of Education and Culture for this invitation, as well as campus and district administration for their support," Reybal said. " It was a unique experience to work with 30 student teachers and meet so many people interested in expanding their knowledge in STEM."
