MISSION - The Upper Valley Art League will present an opening reception for a solo exhibition by Edinburg Artist Jessica Monroe Saturday Sept. 9 form 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Kika de la Garza Fine Arts Center located 921 E. 12th St.
A 2005 graduate from Southwestern University Monroe obtained a degree with an emphasis in painting and sculpture.
The exhibition titled “Art Ecologic” focuses on the chaos, movement and energy of nature. The artworks are impressionistic magnifications of natural spaces rarely noticed or investigated by the average person.
In conjunction with the exhibition Monroe will lead a three-part workshop series Sept. 16, 23 and 30 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on keeping a nature journal as a way to delve deeply into the subject.
The exhibition runs through Saturday Oct. 7 and is free and open to the public.
The gallery is open from Tuesday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
