McALLEN - The volunteers of the International Museum of Art and Science Guild announce the theme for the 2017 Christmas Tree Forest will be “Christmas in the Great Outdoors.”
This year entrants in the competition are challenged to decorate their trees with the gifts of the great outdoors in mind i.e. animals, flowers and topography of the fascinating places on the planet or outdoor activities such as hiking, cycling, swimming, boating and camping.
The Christmas Tree Forest offers a unique opportunity for members of the community to increase public awareness about their organization. The museum will provide a seven-foot artificial trees for the competition.
The five age categories include ages kinder-second, third-fifth, sixth-eighth, ninth-twelfth, adult and single families. Organizations are included in the adult category. Prizes for each category are $150 for first place, $100 for second place and $75 for third place.
The entry deadline is Sunday Oct. 29. The trees will be on display from Nov. 19 through Jan. 4.
