Thursday Oct. 19 those seeking to preserve the Valley's natural heritage are invited to Planta Nativa at Quinta Mazatlan.
As part of the festivities Dr. Douglas Tallamy, author of Bringing Nature Home will be the keynote speaker.
Planta Nativa will feature an art walk with over 10 artists, native plant sale, tapas, spirits and music. Also available at the event will be local breweries Big River Brewery and Rabble-Rouser Brewing Company. Music will be provided by The Parula Winds-Woodwind Quintet and Marcel Adjibi & Group-Native Drum Ensemble.
For his lecture Tallamy will present “Creating Living Landscapes” which is about raising awareness of the importance of native plants in urban settings and how they contribute to the ecosystem.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. and will cost $25. Tickets for the event must be purchased in advanced.
