McAllen ISD placed 50 students on the All-District Choir following auditions in late September. As a district, McAllen ISD had the highest per school average (10.4 percent) of students that were chosen.

James “Nikki” Rowe High, McAllen Memorial High and McAllen High were all part of the top five high schools based on the number of students selected at the Region 15 Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) High School Choir District Auditions.

Students from McAllen ISD accounted for a whopping 31 percent of the chairs on the All-District squad.

“Our students were outstanding,” McAllen ISD Fine Arts Director Jim Egger said. “Congratulations to these very talented McAllen ISD high school choir students.”

Rowe High placed 27 students on the All-District list, the most of any school in the Region. In addition, there were 12 from McAllen Memorial and 11 from McAllen High. This audition is the first step for students to be selected for the TMEA Texas All-State Choir.

The auditions were held Sept. 23 at Rowe High School.
