The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley track & field team announced on Friday that legendary track and field/cross country coach Joe Vigil and renowned runner Pablo Vigil will give a special presentation on January 20 in room 2.108 of the ESCNE (science) building from 2-5:30 p.m.
Price of admission to the presentation will cost $10 for students and $25 for coaches and adults. Seating is limited.
Pablo Vigil will get the presentation started from 2-3 p.m. talking about his life’s journey on his way to becoming the only person to win four-straight Sierre-Zinal mountain races from 1979-82. He was also a member of the 1978 U.S. World Cross Country Championship team and the World Mountain Running Championship Team in 1980.
Joe Vigil will focus a part of his presentation on what it takes to be great before talking about the preparations for a 5,000-meter race. At the conclusion of his presentation, Joe Vigil will hold a question and answer session open to the audience.
Joe Vigil is a 14-time National Coach of the Year in both track and field and cross country. He has led his teams to 19 National Championships while guiding 350 student-athletes to All-American honors and 87 individual national champions.
