PHARR - Thirteen students in the PSJA T. Jefferson T-STEM Early College High School Chess Club recently competed at the 2018 Region X Chess Championships at La Joya High School Jan. 20 and advanced to the State competition. The students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship in March.

For over 80 years, the Texas Chess Association has served Texas chess players with tournaments, publications, chess club development, and as the designated Texas affiliate of the United States Chess Federation.

The following students will be competing at the 2018 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship to be held March 2-4, 2018 at Edinburg North High School:
