EDINBURG -- Edinburg Municipal Park hosted thousands of residents for a weekend full of Fiesta Edinburg festivities.

Friday night, Leonardo Delgadillo of San Juan was standing in front of the stage, clenching a Miller Lite can, waiting for Intocable to play. He’s been attending Fiesta Edinburg five years now.

Last year it was a country band, and this year the festival stuck to Tejano. Delgadillo enjoys it either way.

“It’s pretty cool,” he said, adding that he’d be returning the next day to catch La Mafia. “Let’s have some fun!”

Just a few yards over, there were food stands, artisan goods and games for children to participate. Groups of children played tag with one another, and raced across the inflatable obstacle courses -- while some kept to the sidelines with hand-held bubble makers.

“We try to make this a family-fun event,” said Alex Rios, chairman of the Edinburg Chamber of Commerce. “Our main focus is to make the event better every year.”
