PROGRESO – Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes was joined by City of Progreso officials and members of the community to break ground on the re-construction of Gonzalez Rd.
“This is a project that we have targeted since the day I took office, and being able to accomplish that goal is only the beginning,” said Fuentes. “We are always looking to improve the quality of life of our residents.”
The $480,000 project will also add some much needed drainage improvements.
“Our Drainage District will be in your community, improving over 15 miles, including Gonzalez Rd. You will soon see all their equipment here, working hard to help alleviate drainage needs,” added Fuentes.
State Representative Armando “Mando” Martinez congratulated Commissioner Fuentes and the City of Progreso for the successful partnership.
“It gives me great pride to represent this area, knowing that we are working together to improve our communities,” said Martinez.
Plans for the project are approved at 100% and is expected to be completed within 90 days, weather permitting.
