PHARR – Thirteen seniors from PSJA ISD were recently named 2018 Century Scholars and awarded $20,000 scholarships to complete their post-secondary education. Four of them attend PSJA North Early College High School in Pharr and nine attend PSJA Memorial Early College High School in Alamo.

Established in 1999, the Century Scholars Program is a partnership between Texas A&M University and 110 under-represented Texas high schools to enroll and retain top students from each school.

The program provides $20,000 4-year scholarships for students and even includes a one-time $1,000 scholarship to be used for a Texas A&M approved study abroad experience. To be eligible, seniors must demonstrate academic achievement, be graduates of Century Scholars schools and maintain a 2.75 GPA.
