Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley is hosting their annual gala “Hope is in Bloom” on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Embassy Suites of McAllen beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The mission of Catholic Charities is to provide help, create hope within the local community and restore human dignity. Last year alone, Catholic Charities helped provide emergency assistance and other services to 90,000 people across the Rio Grande Valley. Funds raised at this year’s gala will provide humanitarian response to the many families in dire need of our support through the Humanitarian Respite Center project, which has served thousands of refugees with food, water and shelter.
This year, Catholic Charities has awarded Janet Vackar, Dealer Principal and President of Marketing at Bert Ogden Auto Group with the Hope Award. “Janet has been devoted to serving the needy of the Rio Grande Valley,” said Sister Norma Pimentel. Through nearly 40 years of dedication to the Easter Seals Foundation, Janet’s leadership has earned the Vackar’s the Humanitarian of the Year award and most recently the Business of the Year award.
“Bringing happiness to our Valley children is one of my greatest feel good moments and I’m very grateful that I’ve been given the opportunity to do even just a little of that,” said Janet Vackar, Dealer Principal & President of Marketing at Bert Ogden Auto Group.
Catholic Charities will also recognize Sally Fraustro Guerra, Broker at Coldwell Banker La Mansion in McAllen. As the Cariño Award recipient, Sally Fraustro Guerra will be acknowledged for her dedication and commitment to serving Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley.
Catholic Charities is grateful for the heroic support of platinum, gold and silver sponsors: IBC Bank (McAllen & Brownsville), Dr. Gelman, Frontera Materials and the City of McAllen. Catholic Charities Committee Chair Dora Brown urges the community to attend this event to celebrate the community involvement of Janet Vackar and Sally Guerra, but more importantly to offer financial and charitable support of the vulnerable men, women and children whom the agency serves.
