The City of Edinburg invites the public to the inaugural Edinburg Music Fest to be held on Friday, May 12th, 2018 from 4 p.m. - 12 a.m. At the corner of 8th and McIntyre, east of the Edinburg City Hall.
The festival will aim to celebrate various genres of music through the many musical acts, special guest appearances, and exhibits that take place during the event. The Edinburg Music Fest will revitalize and bring forth one of Edinburg’s hidden jewels, the Tejano Walk of Fame and revitalize it into the Music Walk of Fame. This year, the festival kicks off with Tejano/Conjunto music with headliners Jaime y Los Chamacos. The festival will also feature: Conjunto Delta Boyz, Lazaro Perez y su Conjunto, Ruben de La Cruz y su Conjunto, Los Garcia Brothers, Gilberto Garcia Jr. Y Los Dos Gilbertos, and Lucky Joe.
This year, the Edinburg Music Fest will not induct any new stars into the walk of fame, but rather will use proceeds generated to continue the festival and induct new stars into the Music Walk of Fame starting in 2019. Admission to the festival is $5. Tickets are available at the Edinburg Library and atedinburgmusicfest.eventbrite.com. Admission will be free between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their dancing boots and lawn chairs; food vendors will be available, no outside food or drink will be allowed. The City of Edinburg’s Cultural Arts Division is partnering up with the RGV Food Bank; a portion of the beer proceeds will benefit the Food Bank; cash sales only, an ATM will be on site for anyone who needs it. Come have fun and enjoy a pre-mother’s day celebration or a night with the compadres all while not only helping the festival grow but also helping the RGV Food Bank.
