PHARR - With less than two weeks before their high school graduation, nearly 370 Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Dual Credit seniors received Associate Degrees from South Texas College (STC) during its 2018 Commencement Ceremonies held Friday, May 11 at the State Farm Arena.

Students earned degrees in numerous fields including Biology, Criminal Justice, Engineering, Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Studies, to name a few. In addition, 173 earned certificates in various fields including: Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Welding, Computer Applications, Automotive Technology and Multimedia Specialist.

As a tri-city public school district offering a pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade curriculum, PSJA caters to a 32,000-student body and is focused on graduating all students College Ready, College Connected and College Complete.

Through partnerships with South Texas College and other higher education leaders, more than 3,500 PSJA ISD high school students are enrolled in college courses each semester through the district's nationally recognized Early College Program. At PSJA ISD all students can earn up to two years of college free of cost.

"We are proud of our students for their tremendous effort in earning their Associate Degrees prior to receiving their high school diplomas," said Dr. Daniel King, PSJA Superintendent of Schools. "Our PSJA Family wishes them the best of luck as they continue pursuing their post-secondary education."
