Dr. Rene Gutierrez, Edinburg Consolidated ISD Superintendent of Schools, has released the following statement in regard to Mr. Ramiro Guerra’s accident:

The Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District and the Board of Trustees wishes to extend our most sincere thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery to Edinburg North High School Principal Ramiro Guerra and his wife, Norma Zamora-Guerra, from injuries sustained in an accident over the weekend.

Mr. Guerra is currently at McAllen Medical Center where he has undergone surgery to address his injuries.

Mr. Guerra is an important part of the Edinburg North High School education team that has led this campus to be a College Board Inspiration High School and to academically produce and graduate outstanding students.

In his absence, Mr. Felix Escobedo, assistant principal, will serve as interim principal for Edinburg North High School. Mr. Escobedo is a longtime proven leader in whom central administration has full confidence.

Edinburg North High School Principal Ramiro Guerra dictated the
following letter to his daughter to email to the Edinburg North High
School Staff:
"This is Homecoming Week. Be there for the students. I'm going to be OK.
Don't be moping around. You need to project a positive attitude for the
students and school. Don't forget this is Homecoming Week and TAKS Retest.
I'll be back soon.”
