Thank you to Berry Fritz and IMAS for giving me more information about the Museum Guild’s “A Splash of Spring” style show to be held at the International Museum of Art and Science, 1900 Nolana, on Saturday, March 6th, from 11:30 — 1:30. The price is a bargain at $25, so call either the museum at 682-1564, or chairmen Yolanda Barrera, 330-0678, or Elizabeth Perkins, 225-7563 . . .

Showing fashions will be the following: the Cute Cotton Company, McAllen; Lionel’s Western Wear, Weslaco; Renee’s of Sharyland; Black Iris, Mission; and Etcetera, McAllen . . .

Also on Saturday, March 6th, the Friends of the McAllen Library will be having their huge annual book sale from 9 — 4 at the new convention center, room 101. Friends President Randy Crews urges all of you to come and have fun buying books . . .

Friends Vice-President Judy Steger is in charge of membership and reminds members that there will be a special Friends’ preview sale on Friday, March 5th, from 3 — 5, same location. Want to join the friends? Call her at either 618-5240 or 457-7801. Want to donate books and/or books on tape? Take them by the main library on North Main . . .

Saw Anne & Bob Shepard while out at South Padre Island doing some Valentine’s celebrating with Zeste! More pre-Valentine’s celebrations went on at Sea Ranch with Kathleen & Jack Vinger, who are gratefully acknowledged for the loan of a book on tape (Clive Cussler) for companionship on the long drive to Austin. Also saw Betty Gegenheimer at the island the week before . . .

Hint: if you haven’t tried a book on tape, it really helps to make a long drive go by more quickly. Becky Kilby agrees with me on this, and has also loaned me some tapes, and another plug for the library — they have some books on tape for free loan!

Heard from Maxine Guerra that Bad Bob’s BBQ is serving some delish fried catfish on Fridays during Lent. But don’t let that deter you from ordering their signature pulled pork or sliced brisket barbeque all the rest of the week! (the sides are great, too)

And speaking of food, do yourself a favor and check with girl scouts/brownies in your neighborhood to see if any of their cookies are left — my spouse already made the run to pick up famous Girl Scout cookies from Jenna Hardison and troop in Sharyland.

Saw neighbor’s Peggy & Bill Nix out with their adorable dog, Elizabeth Taylor. Thank you to both Peggy and Barbara Parry for keeping me up to date on coming events . . .

And while I’m at it, thank you to Eloy Treviño and Dora Salinas of Illusions for the same, appointment-wise . . .

Here’s an important addition for your fun things to do next week - come celebrate “Moon Over Mazatlan,” the 4th anniversary celebration at Quinta Mazatlan, on Thursday, March 4th, from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. You can become a partner in environmental education and have a fabulous evening with Glenn Miller and his orchestra, and enhance your fun by dressing in the swing era of the 30’s and 40’s. Call 681-3370 to make your reservations, because only the first 300 will be admitted . . .

Understand that Geen & Tom Wilkins just celebrated their anniversary. See — some marriages are just meant to be, and to be long lasting!

Happy birthday for yesterday to Suzanne DeBerry, Laura Moya, and Lynn Barlow. For today, Dee Dee Hockema can celebrate her birthday . . .

And for tomorrow, birthday cheer is wished to Dori Contreras Garza and Dick Ruppert. If you have a birthday coming up that you would like mentioned, see the following note and please let me know at least ONE WEEK AHEAD!

Note to all readers: the following phone number is not the newspaper’s phone number; it is a number just for this column. Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, at least one week ahead!
