Congratulations to the co-chairs of this year's Fandango!, Amy Johnson and Shelley Richards, who have been working hard to assure the success of this year's FUNdraising gala for the Museum of South Texas History. Call 383-6911 for reservations for this Saturday, October 24th . . .
Chair of the Live Auction, Patty Garza, has selected some fabulous items, parties, and trips, such as a New York jaunt for two, complete with airfare, hotel for four nights, and tickets to two Broadway plays, donated by Alice East . . .
Blackboard auction chairs Carmen Guerra, Courtney Forthuber, and Josie Cappadona have also collected great items, with a stag horn bowl filled with pine cones (donated by Willard & Ana Maria Moon & Hiram & Kathe Tavárez) being just one example . . .
At the recent McAllen Pan American Round Table's Jubilee Tea, sat with ladies from all over the Valley, including tablemates Dr. Sylvia M. Dominguez from Edinburg, Anabel Cotter from Weslaco, Lydia Chavana, Maruca Longoria, Alicia Guerrero, Yolanda Garza, and Anna Alvarado, all from Edinburg (I think) . . .
Also saw Estella Villegas from the Alamo-Pharr-San Juan Table. And afterwards, I met Anabel's adorable dog Gizmo . . .
Saw Marianne Seal, who deserves to be congratulated for her shining, perfect golf moment when she shot a hole-in-one on #8 at McAllen Country Club recently! Awed witnesses were Yolanda & Jim Ketter . . .
Also visited with Christine Tucker, and I would like to compliment the lady golfers at McAllen Country Club, who always dress the part beautifully. (They can play beautifully, too!) I appreciate coordinated golf outfits, even if I can't play the game!
Saw Maria Teresa Garza, Becky Guerra, Frana Schrock, and Judy Amyx, all with beautiful hair. Then saw Becky a little later, trying to assist someone who'd locked keys in his running car. That frazzles my hair . . .
Congratulations to Junior Leaguer Dena Guidry, who chaired the very successful Children's Arts & Literary Festival at IMAS in September. Wow — almost 2,400 in attendance!
These sustainers did a great job on the "break room": organizer Candie Wicker, helpers Irma Garza, Myrna Garcia, Laura Mesquita, Kathy Mills, Paula Moxley, and Margie McCreery . . .
Next week Easter Seals will honor Dario V. & Carmen Guerra as their Humanitarians of the Year at their annual dinner to be held on Tuesday, October 27th, at the McAllen Country Club. The Guerras have been very involved, both serving on the board and helping to establish the first telethon in 1978. Congratulations to them for this well-deserved honor. Call 631-9171 for reservations . . .
Birthday cheer for yesterday is wished to Erika Drefke, Shirley Vaello, Mary Rincones, and to Steve Dershem, who is to be commended for sending me off in style!
For today, happy birthday to Sandy Weaver, Barbara Parry, and Connie Fielder . . .
And for tomorrow, October 22nd, Alida Hernandez can blow out candles.
Note to all readers: Call in your "I See You" news for next week to the Town Crier at 682-2423. Remember, at least one week ahead!
