On March 2, 1836, The Texas Declaration of Independence was signed, and what was formally part of Mexico became The Republic of Texas. A celebration in Alamo on Friday will commemorate this historic event that occurred 174 years ago.
The main event, the Texas Independence Day parade, will take place in Alamo on March 6 at 11 a.m. The parade will head south on Alamo Road, cross the railroad tracks at Business 83, and end on Business 83 and Main Street. The distance in which the parade will travel is about one mile.
After the parade, families are invited to join in on festivities including games, food, and music. Food vendors as well as non- profit groups are welcome to participate.
