Eleven Edinburg North High School students were recently recognized by Edinburg CISD school trustees for being named National Hispanic Merit Scholars.
The ENHS students, (pictured with David Torres, ECISD school board president, and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Rene Gutierrez) are Andrea Arce, Brandon Castillo, Abraham Garza, Hector Garza, Krystal Garza, Alexander Gutierrez, Karen Lopez, Elia Lopez, Alyssa Lopez, Mark Valdez, and Dannielle Vasquez.
ENHS Principal Ramiro Guerra said Edinburg North has more National Hispanic Merit Scholars than any other high school in the Rio Grande Valley. Over 1.5 million students took the PSAT in October of their junior year. Of this number, over 200,000 students identified themselves as Hispanic/Latino. The top one percent, which includes the 11 ENHS students, of the 1.5 million who took the PSAT earned the distinction of being named National Hispanic Merit Scholars.
